What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key), is a healing practice that promotes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual balance.

Reiki is not a religion or belief system, and it works in conjunction with—and enhances—all other medical and therapeutic techniques.

Reiki for Animals

Animals are extremely open and responsive to Reiki healing. They do not question whether the healing is actually taking place; they just take what they need then move away.

Benefits

I have used Reiki to soothe physical trauma and shock; to manage pain; to help wounds heal more quickly—including post-surgical wounds; to help diseases resolve more quickly; to help relieve colic and other digestive upsets; to help resolve mental and emotional upsets, such as with abused, traumatized, or sad animals; and to intensify neuromuscular retraining sessions.

The Healing Session

The practitioner works in one of two ways: by placing hands on the animal’s body or by working from a distance (any distance), which requires no physical contact. Both methods are equally effective.

The intent is to balance the flow of your animal’s energy and to fill the creature’s being with the pure love that is Reiki. The touch is extremely light and gentle, and does not involve massage. Most animals experience the Reiki session as relaxing, soothing, and calming. When the session is over, you may notice immediate results in your animal companion, such as increased energy or interest, increased appetite, increased mobility, and so on. A series of sessions may be necessary to allow the body to fully heal.

Hands-on sessions are available in my Woodstock, IL, office or in your Chicago-area home.

Distance sessions are available anywhere in the world. Your animal will relax in a quiet place in your home, and I will work with him or her from my office or home. I have animal clients all over the country and have worked with animals as far away as Australia. When the session is over, you and I will speak by phone or email.

Reiki for Humans

There is nothing to fear from Reiki. It can only be used for healing.

Because Reiki assists you in healing on all levels—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual—you can participate in Reiki healing for many reasons, from managing pain to relieving stress to changing the direction and focus of your life.

Benefits

It is important to understand that Reiki does not address specific symptoms or diseases. It promotes balance, which allows your body to heal itself.

Medical research into the benefits of Reiki is just beginning, but preliminary data suggest that Reiki can help improve heart rate, blood pressure, and immunity; and can reduce pain, anxiety, and depression. In my 12 years as a professional Reiki practitioner, I have witnessed many instances of these benefits.

I have also witnessed Reiki accelerate healing after surgery or injury, accelerate recovery from illness, reduce the side effects of chemotherapy and other drug protocols, assist with detoxification from substance dependence, assist with recovery from grief or loss, decrease stress, increase vitality, and improve one’s mental and emotional outlook.

The Healing Session

The practitioner works in one of two ways: by placing hands on the client's body or by working from a distance (any distance), which requires no physical contact. Both methods are equally effective.

The intent is to balance the flow of your energy and to fill your being with the pure love that is Reiki. The touch is extremely light and gentle, and does not involve massage. Most everyone experiences Reiki as relaxing, soothing, and calming. Most often, clients report an increased sense of well-being immediately after receiving Reiki. A series of sessions may be necessary to allow the body to fully heal.

Hands-on sessions are available in my Woodstock, IL, office or in your Chicago-area home or hospital room. You will remain fully clothed but will be asked to remove your shoes and jewelry. In my office, you will lie on your back on a comfortable, padded table in a soothing environment (soft light, calming music).

Distance sessions are available anywhere in the world. You will relax in a quiet place of your choice, and I will work with you from my office or home. When the session is over, we will speak by phone or email.

The more clear you are about why you are seeking Reiki and the more committed you are to your healing, the more beneficial the results will be. It is important to understand that no one else can heal you; only you can heal you.

If you have questions about how Reiki can assist you or your animal in healing, I invite you to email me to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation.
